CLIENT CALL SCRIPT
“Congratulations on your engagement and thank you so much for reaching out to me!”
“I’m Emily and I live in Frederick, MD. I’m a full time wedding photographer that specializes in candid storytelling. I’m inspired by honest moments rather than obligatory wedding photos. What that means is I’ll be looking for moments that are creative and true rather than spending 20+ minutes on photographing the invitations on the coffee table. I’m very cheerful and compassionate and I love to be there for my clients. I like to be a part of the planning process (you can find more about this on the wedding guide that I sent you).
During the wedding day you might hear me calling your mom “mom”, crying at the ceremony or dancing on the dance floor. I get my photographs by becoming a part of the day, rather than a fly on the wall.
TALK ABOUT THEIR INQUIRY FORM // CONFIRM THEIR WEDDING PLANS
“Thank you so much for filling out the hefty inquiry form! I know it’s a lot of questions but I really enjoyed reading it.”
State some things that you liked about what they wrote.
Confirm their wedding plans -
-Wedding venue (is if officially booked) and locations (getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception)
- Wedding size (approximate guest count & wedding party size)
-Wedding traditions and the aesthetics/ambiance of the day
-What are they most looking forward to for the wedding day?
GO OVER THE PRICE GUIDE
“I wanted to go over the price guide with you and discuss what could potentially be the best option for your wedding.”
Collection 1 is the “full shabang” - I’ll suggest this to larger weddings with a big production, lots of traditions, multiple locations and events.
Collection 2 is also for larger weddings (200+ guests) or weddings also with multiple locations, but they may not necessarily need me there for 12 hours. A lot of times I’ll suggest this to weddings with a ceremony at a church with the reception taking place elsewhere. Or weddings with a larger wedding party of 10 people+ on each side.
Collection 3 is my most popular collection. 8 hours is pretty standard for a typical wedding day. This is best for a full wedding that has everything taking place at one venue (getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception).
Collection 4 is for my eloping clients. I’ve found the 5 hours is best to still get a fully crafted story for smaller intimate weddings. This is for 50 people or less and with no wedding party. (The 5 hours usually includes, the couple getting ready together, the elopement with couple photos, maybe some group photos and a little bit of the celebration afterwards). Less hours are only available on weekdays.
All of my collections except for the elopement collection come with a second shooter. All of my second shooters are professional photographers that I have worked with for the past couple of years. I just pick one from who is available for the day. I am comfortable shooting a wedding on my own, but I will only suggest it if there is no wedding party, no multiple locations and if you only want one person of the couple being photographed for the getting ready.
What collection could be best for them?
TALK ABOUT THE BOOKING PROCESS
To book, there is a 20% retainer due with a signed contract to the reserve your date. Your contract will cover everything from due dates, to cancellations, to insurance, to copyrights printing, etc.
You can pay by Venmo or mailed check or Paypal (though there is a fee added to Paypal).
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER BOOKING?
After booking, please keep in touch with me about your plans, your vendors or if you need any suggestions at all on lighting, decor, set up. Please always refer back to your wedding guide as it covers these preparations so that your wedding images are created with authenticity and intimacy.
If you’ve booked an engagement session, we’ll start discussing our plans for that as well. I have a whole style guide that I like to send my clients. I like to help plan to prepare for the best possible images.
As we get closer to your wedding date, I’ll be sending you a questionnaire to fill out that we will finalize details and create your photography timeline from.
After your wedding day, there is a due date of 3 months to get your wedding photos to you. I’ll usually release a few sneak peeks though just after the wedding. You’ll also get a final gift from me that includes your final USB.
ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS THEY MAY HAVE?
Refer to the FAQs listed below!
Ask them questions about who they are as a couple
-What are you most excited for about your wedding day?
-What are you worries about the wedding day?
-Tell me about your engagement
-What do you love about each other?
-Where are you both from? How did you meet?
Q. HOW/WHEN DO WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?
The amount of images you’ll receive depends on your wedding coverage. This can be around 300-800 individually edited photographs for the wedding, with around 40-75 for an engagement session. On average, weddings take up to 3 months for full completion, but I always release a few sneak peeks just after the wedding! For lifestyle sessions there is a 2-3 week turnaround time.
Q. DO YOU EDIT YOUR IMAGES?
Yes! From the 3,000 images I’ll shoot, I’ll choose an average of 600 to create a story tailored to you. The images chosen will provide an emotional narrative of how I perceived your day, and these will make up the memories that you pass on 20, 30, even 50 years from now.
Q. CAN I EDIT THEM MYSELF?
No pleasssssse. Asking a photographer for pictures that weren't edited or in the final delivery would be like asking the baker for the egg shells from your wedding cake. Hours and hours go into editing the final images. Applying Instagram filters and/or altering the photos takes away from the finished product. When someone sees that altered image, they aren't seeing a correct representation of my work. It is important that the images I create for you remain authentic.
Q. HOW DO I PROPERLY STORE THE IMAGES AFTER DELIVERY?
By contract I technically do not have responsibly for storing your images after delivery. You can properly store the images by downloading the whole set to at least 2 different hard drives or USB keys. I will keep your images on your online gallery up to 6 months. If you have any issues feel free to ask me directly. If your parents have any issues, I ask that they contact Best Buy - LOL.
Q. CAN I HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER?
Yes - Just please, please, please keep in mind that too many cooks in the kitchen can really take away from everyone’s final work. Please send me your videographer’s info so that I may be in communication and coordination with them. I also have a list of WONDERFUL videographers that I work super duper well with! Please reach out if you are considering hiring a videographer.
Q. DOES THE PHOTOGRAPHER OWN THE RIGHTS TO THE PHOTOS?
Yes, but this doesn't mean that you can’t print your images or post them to social media. It only means that you can't sell, post to publications or use the images for personal branding without permission.
Q. CAN MY UNCLE BOB SHOOT ALONGSIDE YOU?
This happens to me at almost every wedding and it’s ok! I’m only bothered when it’s distracting from the images I’m creating or taking your attention away from my camera.
Your contract states that I am to be the sole professional photographer hired for your wedding day. This includes guests and other vendors who many be using the images for a business portfolio. If your vendors would like to use the images, just shoot them my email and I’ll take care of it.
Q. COULD YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE ONLINE GALLERY?
When I’ve finished editing your photos, you'll receive your own private online gallery. You can download, star your favorites, order prints and share photos directly from this gallery. You'll also receive a final package from me with all kinds of printed goodies!
